Exploring the mountains, beyond the established trails takes skills, practice, and a serious approach.  This scrambling skills course is designed to help you take your hiking trips to the mountain tops. Taught by experienced ACMG guides who have spent their careers scaling technical peaks. Learn how to choose the appropriate route, navigate properly, and do climb 3rd and 4th class terrain safely.

The Goods

Length: 2 days (overnight trip)

Locations: Squamish BC,

Meeting point: Squamish Adventure Centre

Prerequisites: Hiking experience, ability to hike for 6 hours per day.

Highlight skills: Navigation, Alpine hazard management, Snow travel, Route assessment, 3rd, and 4th class management.

Is This For You?

This course is great for anyone who likes to hike on single-track trails and exploring the mountains.

  • No previous mountaineering experience
  • Fitness to be moving for a minimum of 6 hours
  • Can hike 4 hours in gentle uphill terrain
  • Likes being outside

What You Will Learn

The goal of this course to have you feeling comfortable summiting 3rd or 4th class mountains. Learn how to manage alpine hazards, move fast over off-trail terrain, manage rockfall hazards and navigate properly.
