Multi-Pitch Rock Climbing

World Class Granite High Above the Pacific Ocean

With impeccable granite routes up to 13 pitches, Squamish, BC boasts some of the world’s best multi-pitch climbing.*  Whether it is your first multi-pitch climb or you are an experienced climber, Altus Mountain Guides can help you push your limits in a controlled and supported setting.  Multi-pitch climbing is exciting for us to guide, and we look forward to accommodating any ability level.

Deciding the Best Multi-Pitch Climb
1) What type of climbing do you like?
2) What grade are you climbing? In the gym or outdoors?
3) How many pitches do you want to climb?
4) How many climbers are in your group?

*Multi-pitch climbing is multiple legs of climbing up a rock face. Each "pitch" is between 100- 200 feet long. The average multi-pitch route ranges from 300- 1,500 feet long and can be accomplished in 8 hours; however, we offer half-day options for multi-pitch climbing.

The week had been rainy, and the Chief was slow to dry, but we waited it out and got a nice multi-pitch and some top-rope in any way. Altus was good about communicating and rescheduling as the weather constantly changed. We'll definitely climb with them again next time we're in Squamish.

We hire a guide on a 2:1 ratio to go through some skills we'd been meaning to practice before doing some multi-pitch routes by ourselves. We emailed our guide (Tucker) the night before with a list of the skills and he worked through them in the course of the day, giving explanations about what works best and why. Highly recommend Altus guides to anyone else - thanks again
